Languages in Bahrain

The main language in Bahrain is Arabic which is spoken by 50 % of the Bahraini population, there are 3 forms of Arabic in Bahrain, Bahraini Arabic whch is the colloquial Arabic of the country, Modern Standard Arabic which is understood in all Arabic speaking countries especially  or Classical Arabic, the language of the Qu'ran, manuscripts and other old or religious books.

English

English is spoken by about 30 % of the population. All English people and all Barbars and some Pakistanis speak English. Signposts are written in both Arabic and English and some in Urdu or Farsi.

Urdu

Urdu is spoken by the Pakistani community of Bahrain, about 15 % of these are Urdu speaking. Urdu is almost idenentical to Hindi, it's sister language but is written in the Perso - Arabic script instead of Devanagari, used for Hindi, the Indian language while Urdu is the Pakistani. 
 

Minority Languages

The smallest minority languages in Bahrain are Farsi 4 % which is spoken by Iranian expatriates and is modern Persian as Iran was once known a Persia and is written in the Arabic script and 1 % speak Hebrew which is spoken by the small Israeli Jewish comunity who have one synagogue in the whole country situated in Manama, the capital.
